Born in São Paulo in 1956. Twenty years later he began his career in photojournalism. He belonged to the staff of the F4 Agency, was assistant editor at Isto É magazine and photo editor at Goodyear, República and Bravo magazines. In 1980, he received the Vladimir Herzog Prize for Human Rights and in 2012 the Marc Ferrez Prize. He was the exclusive photographer of Cadernos de Literatura Brasileiraof the IMS (1996-2012). Currently, Edu Simões collaborates with the indigenous movement, creating a series of portraits of indigenous leaders who fight for the defense of their lands and forests.
