Konstantina Krikzoni’s work is an intuitive examination of bodily female forms, organic shapes and other ambivalent beings that manifest between the figurative and the abstract. Working often with oil paint, acrylic, textiles and rubber, Krikzoni creates organic shapes and other creatures intertwining in multifaceted ways, alluding to a reconstruction of the female figure and her spirituality. The characters in her paintings are phantasmagorical, ambivalent and captivating
beings that selfishly metamorph into sensual creatures. In her work, Krikzoni delves into the abjection of femininity, challenging societal boundaries and taboos placed upon women's bodies and behaviour. The subversive symbolism in her paintings defies expectations. Drawing from her Greek heritage and personal experiences, Krikzoni explores her identity as a woman, artist, and embodiment of the female body. She employs a layered technique, combining lines and shapes to evoke an atmosphere of tonalities charged with emotional force. Her large-scale paintings embrace the power and the complexities of womanhood.
