About Marie Angeletti
Marie Angeletti uses photography to re-frame discordant yet familiar genres of representation. The French artist collects imagery from art historical sources, Google image searches, and media platforms. She photographs and re-photographs it, thereby continuously re-interpreting the act of making and looking at art. The process of continuous re-framing and repetition in Angeletti’s practice speaks to ways information is being treated in contemporary media platforms, where the notion of authorship is often a contested subject. In the artist’s works the original source of the image becomes blurred and unfocused, giving space of novel, unexpected interpretations. In such a way, Angeletti’s juxtaposed, digitally manipulated, combined and rearranged photography allows for endless possibilities of meaning.
