About Ed Paschke
Drawing inspiration from Andy Warhol’s photo-portraitures, Ed Paschke, American artist of Polish descent, created colourful, psychedelic portraits. Associated with Chicago Imagists, an artist movement in the 1960s in Chicago, Paschke was fascinated by urban life and human individuality. Like many other Imagists, he was an avid collector, with found photograph media, such as adverts, newspapers or film posters, often being the inspiration behind his work. By using projections, he was able to create layered images, growing interested in televisual media and electronics. A predecessor of American Pop art, Paschke made art about the underside of American values, leaving a great impact on artists such as Jeff Koons.
