About Sarah Rose
Sarah Rose is interested in the point at which materials overlap and transform, and the different states and temporalities within which they operate. This temporality of states and the fleeting moments in between are manifested through Rose’s sculpture, sound, and installation works. Through her research, the artist links notions of precarity, and the conditions of neoliberalism and late capitalism, to ideas of temporality. Rose is intrigued by the material residue left behind, the detritus that is a symptom of decomposition. She has conducted research into ‘Solastalgia’, a neologism formed from the Greek words for ‘comfort’ and ‘grief’, that describes the existential dread caused by the climate crisis.
