Mangan utilizes disarmed objects with the intention of understanding them and often reassembles the objects beyond their original state. Galvanized by both history and science, Nicholas Mangan is a multidisciplinary artist known for interrogating narratives integrated into a wide range of objects. With a great interest in the processes of formation of meaning, culture and natural phenomena, Mangan creates drawings, assemblage, sculptures and disconcerting installations. His work addresses a wide range of issues, including the current impacts of colonialism, the tense relationship of humanity with the natural environment, contemporary consumer cultures and the complex dynamics of the global political economy.
