About Flavia Trachsler
Flavia Trachsler is a multidisciplinary artist, working with installation, drawing painting and video work. Trachsler is deeply invested in the cultivation of narratives that hold the power to reshape viewpoints on prevailing realities. She endeavors to carve out arenas for unvoiced tales and unheard voices, through nuanced disruptions and strategic deviations she aims to counter mainstream oversimplifications. A hallmark of this approach involves the adroit employment of performative environments, such as spaces tailored to foster spontaneous social exchanges. The inherent unpredictability and shielded visibility inherent in such settings, as exemplified in "Paris, Texas - Blind Speed Dating 2” (2019), catalyze the abandonment of ingrained biases and anticipations, pushing individuals to deeply immerse themselves in unfolding tales. Her video exploration, titled "I may not have been born yet (2020)", is a testament to this introspective journey. It captures fresh architectural advancements from an estranged vantage point, mimicking the aesthetic ethos of digital representations and transposing them onto tangible terrains. This removed perspective uncovers an unsettling similarity between real-world settings and their digital, imagined counterparts.
