About Anne Bourse
Anne Bourse’s practice is underpinned by the lack of hierarchies, certainties and definitions. Her choice of medium is instinctive and spans painting, drawing, textile, sculpture and writing. Bourse says that “being unclear is important, " asking her audience to refrain from fully understanding and leaving space for ambiguity. Bourse’s eclectic, psychedelic colours, hanging fabrics and found objects form nuanced agglomerations of the artist’s thoughts, contextualised by emotion and intuition. She finds inspiration in all that surrounds herself, forming a functional community within her works. The brightness and subtleness of her practice present a chaos that avoids cohesion and ideology, thereby creating an unlimited space for emotional and interpretative potential.
