About Ljiljana Blazevska
Serbian artist Ljiljana Blazevska developed and pursued a personal post-surrealist language throughout her career as a painter. Born in Skopje, Macedonia, and later settled in Belgrade, Serbia, her paintings reflect a strong combination of perspectives and cultural influences, both Levantine and European. Using light, vibrant, and incandescent colors, Blazevska considered her paintings to be what she herself called a "poetic infantilism." Her dreamlike, amorphous landscapes are infested with a variety of figures and symbols such as princes, cyclones, and floral wreaths that simultaneously convey a sense of celebration and despair when looking at her paintings.
