Le Moane

Working with wood is, for Le Moane, a way of communing with nature, protected from the incessant noise of the outside world. Arithmetic engravings representing this noise adorn his powerful sculptures, which are often monumentally sculpted hands. As contemporary totems, we can all see in the sculptures our own prohibitions, fears, or cults. But these emblems are as much aesthetic as they are symbolic, and the quest for the beauty of form is seen here as a powerful vector of meaning.
