Norman Hyams

The deeply personal works of Norman Hyams, transcend everyday experience to present an intimate vision of his creative process and unique artistic freedom. Having graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 2006, Hyams shunned the art world for over ten years, creating a powerful body of work unaffected by any external or commercial influences. Departing from personal narratives, and archival imagery of his closest relatives, the intriguing realities portrayed in his paintings are populated with characters elaborated in strokes that teeter softness and grotesqueness. A pictorial style seemingly disconnected from a sense of time and space.
