About Renaud Jerez
The relationship between the body and architectural space, whether public or private, is of particular importance in Renaud Jerez's work. The body is constrained by the space around it, just as it constrains that space. In addition to his paintings, Jerez has produced a large number of mummified sculptures over the years. These sculptures are halfway between cyborgs and carnivalesque creatures, testifying to both degradation and the potential for a new, insolent enchantment.
When looking at Jerez's work, one can almost feel the private, inner world of his unconscious excesses, transforming and altering familiar objects into the unknown.
