About Manuel Gnam
The works of Manuel Gnam reflect on the current state of images, their production, distribution and presentation. Highly aware of the underlying convergence of social, technological and monetary streams of information and the ambiguous social role of the artist, Gnam occupies himself with visual content in the information age. Referring to digital media, tech-made environments and their embedded terminology, the artist carves out the systems and aesthetics aiming at the individual and their incompatibility with the human mind and body and its desire for artistic renewal. Besides working solo, Manuel Gnam is part of the artist duo FLAME and the editor, along with his frequent collaborator Taslima Ahmed, of the journal Art Against Art: Art Journal from Within Post-Market Culture.
