Boshudhara Mukherjee’s practice is defined by a persistent exploration of materials, particularly fabrics, resulting in work that evolves through cycles of experimentation, transformation, and rediscovery. Motivated by a desire to liberate canvas and textile from functional constraints, her work highlights the organic growth and fluidity of forms, celebrating their ability to exist beyond rigid or confining structures. Over the past decade, Mukherjee has gradually shifted from her earlier, structured canvases—stiff, white, and formally restrained—toward softer, more playful, and freely moving fabrics. In this transition, she has embraced new techniques, incorporating crocheting, stitching, and other handcraft processes.
