Biography

Dala Nasser is a material-based artist who works across various mediums including painting, performance, and film. Nasser’s work examines the intersection of human and non-human entanglement in relation to environmental, historical, and political issues, particularly those resulting from practices of extraction and colonial erasure. Her artistic process involves using materials that carry literal meaning, and her work is rooted in her personal experiences and the history of her region. In her solo exhibition “Time spent without its flow” at V.O Curations in London, she used found fabrics from her grandparents' house located in the south of Lebanon, which she coloured with natural dyes made from wildflowers that can withstand toxic soil. After dyeing the textiles, she applied charcoal rubbings from the trunks of olive trees and flintstone from neighbouring terrace walls. This repetitive process is subject to the elements, with the markings gradually being washed away. ...
