Biography

Daniela Gomez Paz creates richly layered environments where past and present coexist, forming dynamic, living ecosystems. Her work intertwines human experience with both organic and synthetic materials, exploring the impermanence and interconnectedness of life. Drawing on her Colombian-American heritage, she incorporates techniques such as weaving, embroidery, drawing, collage, and sculptural assemblage, merging these methods to construct immersive terrains that hold traces of memory, culture, and familial narratives. Using materials like soil, twigs, textiles, and fibers, Gomez Paz builds structures that function as both bodies and landscapes. Embroidered textiles serve as connective tissue—supporting, binding, and enveloping forms—while elements like leaves, roots, and flowers evoke cycles of growth, decay, and regeneration. Through coiling, stitching, and layering, her works traverse time, exploring personal, social, and intergenerational stories, especially those centered on feminine roles and knowledge. Her practice celebrates the vitality and resilience of women, honoring the transmission of experience and strength across generations. Each piece conveys movement and energy, offering viewers a contemplative meditation on memory, identity, and the transformative power of materials. ...
