Biography
Deanio X’s work interrogates the distortions of history shaped by colonial legacies, examining how these narratives continue to marginalize cultures and communities worldwide. Alongside his studio practice, he creates public murals and installations that honor overlooked voices and memorialize experiences erased from conventional archives and educational curricula. Through a combination of research, observational drawing, and imaginative construction, Deanio builds visual narratives that challenge accepted notions of history and broaden understanding of cultural memory. His practice particularly engages with the contemporary experiences of Africans in Europe and the wider diaspora, reinterpreting stories often excluded from mainstream discourse. As a multidisciplinary artist, Deanio X employs experimental drawings and paintings to reveal hidden perspectives in history and literature.
