Biography

Gusty Ferro is a cross-disciplinary artist whose practice investigates the interplay between architecture, the body, and the materiality of everyday objects. Working across sculpture, drawing, video, sound, and installation, Ferro often explores urban infrastructure, displacement, and the physical and emotional weight of environments. Their sculptural works juxtapose concrete, stone, metal, plastic, and paper in contorted, writhing forms, creating tactile and immersive experiences. Complementing these forms, Ferro incorporates ambient post-industrial soundscapes that interact with the space, enhancing the sensory impact of the installations. Ferro’s practice is marked by a brutalist sensitivity to texture and structure, blending aggression with subtle elements of play. By engaging with both natural and manufactured materials, their work examines the tension between permanence and fragility, human intervention and environmental forces. Ferro invites viewers to navigate and inhabit these constructed environments, emphasizing the relational and experiential qualities of space, material, and sound. ...
