Iah Bahia

Iah Bahia works with material experimentation and explores form through process and abstraction. Working primarily with found materials such as fabric, paper, soil, sand, water, and other transient elements, she creates poetic ecosystems that reflect her observations of inhabited spaces and their transdisciplinary relationships with various materials. Her works highlight tensions and conflicts between matter, form, textures, and chromatic planes, often based on imaginative and procedural propositions. Through her art, she calls for the rearrangement of pollinating matrices into ecosystemic poetics, creating installations that evoke a sense of organic growth and transformation. Iah Bahia's approach is characterized by an experimentation-based process, where she begins with forms at the scale of her hands and allows them to grow spontaneously, resulting in unique shapes each time.
