Julieta Gil interrogates memory, materiality, and public space through a practice that combines video, installation, 3D simulation, performance, and sculpture. Utilizing technology as an extension of the self, she documents and reinterprets sites of collective significance, with a focus on monuments and their role in shaping social and political memory. Her work challenges dominant narratives by creating digital archives and reimagined representations of public monuments, highlighting alternative histories and acts of resistance. Gil’s innovative use of photogrammetric scanning and 3D modeling subverts traditional documentation, offering fresh perspectives on cultural symbols.
