Linus Bill studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts, where he developed a practice of the materialising photographic images into form. Publications, integral to his work, function as sites of experimentation and departure points for new bodies of work that regularly span painting and sculpture.
Bill’s photo/image process involves multiple stages of translation — from image capture to darkroom, digital manipulation, silkscreen, concrete moulding, bronze casting, airbrush, ceramic and CNC manufacturing — creating layers that destabilise photography’s homogeny rooted in reality through the many steps that separate a lived experience from the final artwork insisting on the difference between how one sees things, and how one tells them. ...
