Luo Ran

Luo Ran’s practice examines the current visual landscape and the underlying logic that shapes different types of environments. He approaches this investigation as a kind of game, positioning himself both as an experiencer and a producer. For him, the creative process is about uncovering and generating hidden, intricate “Easter eggs” within this visual terrain, where the act of discovery becomes inseparable from the act of creation. Drawing on methods from virtual software, Luo adapts the ways in which objects are manipulated in digital spaces into a painterly language. He transforms the trajectories and characteristics of different tools into a working logic that redefines how painting can operate. Through this approach, he re-edits the boundaries between dimensions, merging the sensibilities of digital intervention with the tactile qualities of traditional media. His works explore suspended states of rhythm, movement, connection, boundary, and order—conditions that hover between the real and the imagined. By blending digital logic with physical execution, Luo creates compositions that challenge fixed perspectives, inviting viewers to engage with landscapes as evolving, multi-layered systems. ...
