RojoNegro is a collaborative duo composed of María Sosa and Noé Martínez. Their multidisciplinary practice merges Indigenous and Afro-descendant cultural legacies with contemporary visual languages. Their work spans sculpture, textiles, video, and performance, creating immersive experiences that confront colonial histories, systemic racism, and social inequities. Central to their video work is the performance of rituals where bodily movement enters into dialogue with the historical energies embedded in colonial documents. These performances activate material elements such as tobacco, using them as tools for spiritual communication and healing. Through symbolic and ritualistic motifs, RojoNegro reclaims marginalized narratives and highlights processes of cultural survival and resilience.
