Simon Callery

Simon Callery's work consists of paintings, photographs and large-scale sculptures. Through his work he aims to emphasise the materiality of paintings that are 'for the body as much as they are for the eye'. His non-traditional red relief paintings, for example, emphasise the material construction rather than the image. More recently, Callery has pursued a number of painting projects outside the studio, in the urban environment and the landscape, working with people from all disciplines, such as field archaeologists. ...
