Will Gabaldón

Will Gabaldón's paintings are based on specific pastoral landscapes and environments he has observed over time and rendered from memory, which he refers to as ‘atmospheres left in memory’. As such, his work serve as depictions of both actual and imaginary spaces. In his solo exhibition 'This must be the place' (2022), Gabaldón explores the potency of simple forms by creating tranquil compositions of nature. While his paintings evoke an unsettling atmosphere, they also possess an energetic undercurrent, emphasized by the artist's use of dense brushstrokes. Gabaldón's series of small-scale paintings capture the essence of a space. Through his minimalistic use of colour and deliberate brushstrokes, the paintings evoke a sense of nostalgia and a blend of reality and imagination.
