Working across a multidisciplinary practice that engages with performance, video, painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and sound, Eddie Peake’s body of work frequently manifests as immersive exhibitions that intersperse numerous threads, from connecting seemingly unrelated objects to interspersing autobiography and examining self-identity. Also present in his practice is a consideration of more universal themes from the body to desire to urban spaces. His practice considers the drama and dynamics present within relationships across all contexts, from family to professional to sexual or romantic. From this, Peake examines how external factors such as socio-political and cultural contexts and constructs, and personal factors such as desire, sexuality, intimacy, and psychological states can impact these relationships. A frequent preoccupation is with the gaps that crop up when translating between verbal and nonverbal communication.
