Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This minimalist artwork showcases a delicate, gestural composition drawn in shades of gray. The loose, sketchy lines create a sense of movement and fluidity, hinting at a dynamic, expressive subject. The sparse, monochromatic palette emphasizes the artistic technique, with the medium itself becoming a focal point. While the subject matter is not immediately recognizable, the abstract forms and suggested motion evoke a sense of spontaneity and emotional resonance. The artist's intention seems to lie in exploring the expressive potential of the drawing medium, capturing an ephemeral moment through a minimalist visual language. ...

Jared Ginsburg
1985

Jared Ginsburg is an artist who utilizes various mediums, such as sculpture, drawing, painting, video, and performance, to explore alternative modes of knowledge production and transfer. His artwork functions as a tool for questioning and examining the world, with the objective of creating innovative ways to productively engage with it. An example of this is seen in his use of kinetic sculptures, which involve combining found moving objects with simple construction techniques. His 'Hanging Drawings' series is comprised of sculptural drawings fashioned out of bamboo, rubber, and string, and was initially an attempt to transform a two-dimensional ink drawing into a three-dimensional space. It has since evolved into a self-contained exploration of composition. Similarly, in his 'Wall Painting' series, large canvases serve as records of note-making and drawings, in which they are covered and revealed through the process of painting-over and sanding-away, resembling a private archaeology. Ginsburg's artistic process is characterized by incorporating "indeterminacy or chance operations," and his studio serves as a laboratory, instrument, and character in conversation. ...

Cape Town

Based in a 360 sqm gallery in Woodstock, Cape Town, blank was founded by Jonathan Garnham as a project space in 2005 and transitioned into a commercial gallery during 2012. The gallery represents emerging and increasingly established artists from the region in a critically engaged programme that emphasises contemporaneity, with a focus on concept and abstraction in the African context. With an exhibition programme that has a reputation for shaping the discourse around contemporary art in South(ern) Africa, and participation in prominent local and international art fairs, we seek to place our artists' work in a wide range of private and institutional collections. In addition, blank continues to promote the visual arts in our community through ongoing projects that support the sector. ...
