Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a sculptural piece consisting of a white, fluffy garment suspended on a metal hanger. The overall composition is minimalist, with the garment taking center stage against a plain background. The delicate, cloud-like texture and the simple, industrial hanger create an intriguing contrast, drawing the viewer's attention to the interplay between the organic and the man-made. The artwork appears to comment on the idea of fashion and the ephemeral nature of material possessions, inviting the viewer to consider the relationship between clothing, the body, and the passage of time. ...

Jeffrey Meris
B.1991

Jeffrey Meris examines the relationships between materiality, gesture, and broader cultural and social narratives. His work spans sculpture, installation, performance, and drawing, delving into themes of ecology, embodiment, and the complexities of lived experience. A core focus of his art is the process of healing—addressing both personal and historical wounds—through thoughtful reflections on memory, identity, and place. Drawing on his Bahamian roots, Meris often incorporates the natural environment and cultural histories of the Bahamas as both subject and context. His work critically addresses the enduring impacts of imperialism and colonialism, weaving these political concerns together with intimate reflections on the body, kinship, movement, and processes of reconciliation. By merging incisive critique with poetic gestures, Meris creates immersive, dynamic spaces that invite viewers to contemplate histories of displacement and resilience. His practice opens a dialogue around how art can serve as a means to reclaim agency, foster healing, and imagine new possibilities for connection between individuals and communities. ...
