Max Frommeld is a product designer who works directly with materials and manufacturing processes. Notions of functionality, structure, and play are central to his thinking. His interest in designing and making objects stems in part from his upbringing in Ulm in southern Germany, a region with a strong heritage in industrial design and manufacturing. The objects he makes cover a wide range of uses - from spoons, tables, and buildings to aesthetic objects - always with the intention of affecting and possibly improving people’s daily routines. Kate MacGarry Gallery, established in 2002, is a contemporary art gallery located in East London at 27 Old Nichol Street, within a space designed by British architect Tony Fretton. Over the years, the gallery has expanded its representation to include 25 emerging and established artists, as well as two artist estates.
