Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This contemporary artwork depicts a lone figure standing in a dark, open field illuminated by a single source of light. The muted color palette of earthy tones and the minimalist composition create an atmospheric, introspective mood. The distinct silhouette of the figure, surrounded by an expanse of darkness, evokes a sense of solitude and introspection. The artist's use of chiaroscuro lighting techniques lends a sense of drama and mystery to the scene. This piece appears to explore themes of isolation, contemplation, and the human experience in the face of the natural world. ...

Artist
Miho Ichise
B.1969, Japanese

Miho Ichise strives to fully experience the atmosphere of a painting by engaging all senses, not just sight. She paints to immortalize her daily life, with her two daughters providing constant inspiration, she photographs fleeting moments before rendering them on canvas, where she heightens colours and crops compositions. Drawing on her Japanese upbringing, where the appreciation of each season is encouraged, she observes the changing scents and sounds and the emotions that they evoke, then incorporates them into her paintings. Ichise's paintings feature intimate moments of hers while drawing inspiration from Alex Katz's refined compositions, particularly his use of subdued shadows. In her work, Ichise achieves a similar delicacy, avoiding overpowering reality with paint. She is dedicated to an honest craft, reflected by the canvas' subtle textures and the mottled remnants of her brushwork. Ichise's small paintings capture the marvels of habitual life, such as a fluttering curtain, an empty glass on a table, pre-dawn skies, a hand counting candies, or the bright full moon shining behind icy clouds. Despite their ordinary nature, these everyday objects take center stage in Ichise's poetic fantasies, which emphasize their beauty and significance. ...

Online viewing rooms so often surrender the most valuable and treasured part of viewing paintings: time. PPP makes space for the precious time we’ve lost online. They have made the move to an exhibition based platform, supporting artists with committed exposure, engaging dialogues and unwavering focus on their painting. Time spent engaging with an artists’ work is often cut short in galleries, as the art world continually demands the next and new. By encouraging us to look for longer, PPP places processes of cogitation at the forefront of the onlooker’s attention. Their platform becomes a repository for the longevity of both the painting and the painter. In feeding the desire of art lovers to look for longer, PPP indulges a painting’s most powerful effect: its capacity to inspire. ...
