Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The visual elements of this artwork feature an irregular, mottled stone surface, serving as the backdrop for a distinctive focal point - a fossilized imprint revealing intricate details. The subject matter appears to be a fossilized plant or leaf, preserved within the rock. The artistic style and technique showcase the natural processes of fossilization, capturing the organic forms and textures with a raw, elemental quality. This piece likely provides a window into the distant past, offering a glimpse into the geological and paleontological history preserved within the stone. ...

Salome Chigilashvili
Georgian

Salome Chkhilashvili frequently incorporates materials such as thread and plaster, alongside urban and industrial elements like concrete and steel. Her work investigates themes of deconstruction, memory, and transformation, often merging architectural forms with fragmented human figures to explore the tension between the constructed and the organic, highlighting states of liminality. One of her notable wall installations reinterprets the traditional concept of a swimming pool by breaking it down into a fragmented, abstract composition. This piece challenges not only the architectural form of pools but also their broader political, social, and environmental associations—such as control over bodies, space, and resources. The installation’s modular layout, featuring scattered pipes and tiles with intentional gaps, conveys a sense of disruption and decay. Within this fractured space, Chkhilashvili introduces embroidery, stitching white threads onto industrial surfaces. Traditionally connected to feminine labor and storytelling, this delicate craft contrasts with the harsh materials, adding intimacy and care. Through this interplay, she blurs the lines between construction and craft, transforming rigid industrial elements into tactile, expressive surfaces. ...

Gallery Artbeat
Tbilisi

Gallery Artbeat is a pioneering contemporary art gallery based in Tbilisi, Georgia representing mid-career and emerging Georgian artists. Between 2014-2017 the gallery started its journey as a project space, a moving gallery using a shipping container for site-specific exhibitions to introduce contemporary art in peripheral locations where museums and galleries don't function. In October 2017 the gallery found it's permanent home in the heart of Tbilisi. The gallery has a significant presence on the international art scene, collaborating with major institutions and museums and taking part in art fairs such as NADA Miami, Untitled Miami, Art Dubai, Artissima, Art Cologne. Our aim is to support artists throughout their artistic journeys, foster cultural activities both locally and abroad, collaborate with international galleries and organisations and mark Georgia on an international art map. ...
