Sihan Guo

Sihan Guo’s practice envisions a techno-Gnostic realm influenced by Deleuze’s Rhizome theory. Her paintings are characterized by swirling, stem-like patterns that suggest an unrestrained flow of energy across a decentralized, borderless reality. Within this intricate, web-like environment, organic and visceral shapes appear—neither entirely figurative nor purely abstract—evoking a world suspended between presence and absence, and between reality and virtuality. By manipulating paint and experimenting with various surface textures, Guo adopts a perspective that moves beyond the human subject, focusing instead on an object-centered experience that transcends traditional human perception. Her work reflects on the fragmentation and detachment of human subjectivity in today’s digital landscape, engaging with ideas of decay, disappearance, and self-effacement. Drawing inspiration from abandoned spaces and crumbling monuments, Guo imagines a future where human impact diminishes, highlighting themes of alienation in a constructed environment.
