Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This contemporary artwork features a striking visual composition with bold colors and geometric shapes. The central element is a stylized face with exaggerated features, rendered in a surreal, almost cubist style. The use of contrasting tones, such as the vibrant orange backdrop and the muted gray tones of the facial features, creates a visually striking image. The distorted and fragmented nature of the subject matter suggests a commentary on the human condition or psychological themes. While the specific intention behind the piece is not clear, the artist's technical mastery and innovative approach to portraiture are evident, offering an engaging and thought-provoking viewing experience. ...

Vojtěch Kovařík
B.1993, Czech

Vojtěch Kovařík's work is a pantheon in which the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology crowd together and where there are so many figures confined in frames too narrow to contain the weight of their own symbolism. These once extraordinary beings are no longer triumphant. They are summoned in paintings and sculptures in the style of the muralists Diego Riviera and José Clemente Orozco. Kovařík was also inspired by the national socialist art strategies prevalent before the collapse of the USSR, two years before being born in the Czech Republic. His paintings adopt the same principles: simplicity and clarity, use of symbols, exaggerated strokes, striking colors, uniformity, and repetition. Kovařík reveals the gap between the great ideologies and myths our culture and each of us inherit, and the way they perpetuate patterns of oppression. He is dedicated to deconstructing the authoritative, dismantling grand narratives and its heroes, leaving traces of individual mythology and giving them a new relevance. The artist rehumanizes these gods that were so distant, and in doing so, narrates the dilemmas of contemporary life, confronted with symbols too stifling to inhabit his history and experience of the world. ...

Paris, Paris, Paris

The Galerie Derouillon, founded by Benjamin Derouillon, opened its doors in September 2012 at 38 rue Notre Dame de Nazareth in the Haut-Marais district, which is emerging as one of the new poles of contemporary art in Paris, with the desire to defend a young generation of French and international artists. The programme offers a singular vision of today's art in its diversity of modes of expression, with a particular emphasis on painting, sculpture and installations. The selection of artists has in common a demanding and playful work that breaks with established codes.
