Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork depicts a cluster of irregularly shaped black stones or slabs against a stark white background. The visual elements showcase a striking contrast between the dark, angular shapes and the clean, minimalist composition. The subject matter is ambiguous, with the irregular fragments suggesting a deconstructed or fragmented form. The artistic style and technique appear to be rooted in the aesthetic of minimalism, emphasizing the inherent qualities of the materials. The context of this piece likely reflects the artist's exploration of themes related to materiality, abstraction, and the nature of perception. ...

AMERICAN ARTIST is a multimedia artist working primarily with sculpture, software and video, who explores themes of technology, race, and knowledge production through their work. The artist sees a connection between art and the idea of abolition, as both strive to inspire change and imagine new ways of being. They examine the impact of new technologies on the use of predictive policing which utilizes data from past crimes to predict future criminal activity. Their film, 2015 (2019), explores the concept through fictionalized dashcam footage of a police officer. They aim to highlight the increasing prevalence of predictive policing in society, despite the fact that the technology has been around for a while. The film portrays a sense of unease around the idea of police using software to target certain areas as potential crime zones and labelling anyone in those areas as suspects. They believe that art has an important role to play in the conversation around justice and the potential for alternative approaches to public safety. ARTIST aims to engage audiences in discussions and challenge dominant narratives around the role of law enforcement in current society. ...

They have a strong commitment with the visions and concerns that their artists have towards the contemporary social/political context. They work with a mix of young and mid-career artists, both Mexican and international. With whom they work closely and assume an active role in the projects they develop. The work of these artists address topics such as value and exchange; economic systems and social structures; the exploitation of natural resources, the ethics of human behaviour, and the hidden political structures of society. ...
