Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This abstract sculpture features a central black ceramic form with a large, amorphous opening at the top, resembling a vase or a vessel. Emanating from the base are numerous curved, interlinked black ceramic chains or loops, creating a sprawling, organic composition that appears to grow outward. The overall effect is a striking juxtaposition of the rigid, geometric ceramic form and the flowing, interconnected chains, evoking a sense of movement and energetic tension. Anneagma shares a profound and intimate connection with the earth as her primary medium. She is captivated by its fluid nature—earth lacks form until shaped by human touch and energy, and through the transformative power of fire, it undergoes a fundamental change. She perceives the earth as a vital form of language, where sensory experience and tactile engagement reconnect her to primal instincts often overlooked. Her creative process involves deep self-reflection and a desire to bridge her Western context with Sub-Saharan African roots, exploring the concept of genetic memory. Drawing inspiration from this cultural synthesis, Anneagma crafts singular sculptural forms that appear as if they have surfaced from ancient times or the very core of the earth. These carefully fashioned works merge traditional craftsmanship with a modern sensibility, demanding refined technical mastery while emanating a compelling, unified presence. Known as Migrant Objects, these pieces evoke stories of history and migration, serving as poignant reminders of collective memory and the importance of remembering. ...
