Arthur Peña

Arthur Peña (1982,TX) is a Bronx based artist, curator, and writer. Peña’s current works exist within an ongoing project entitled, Attempt. His work delves into the psychological tumult of everyday existence, his paintings and sculptures present a search to understand the dichotomous realities of hope and grief in the body and mind. His most recent works explore the body as a site of mental and emotional duress through elements of abject horror and inescapable situations. Presented through a high key, saturated world full of antagonists and ghoul like figures, his current exploration of various materials harks back to earlier attempts, referencing the cyclical nature of life and the ebb and flow of personal relationships. ...

Harlesden High Street was founded with the mission of facilitating access between experimental/outsider artists and the traditional gallery system. Working across several spaces in London, the gallery exhibits contemporary art by both local and international artists with a focus on exhibiting work by people of colour. In addition to its gallery programme, Harlesden High Street also hosts a cultural outreach programme with an aim to engage audiences in un-gentrified neighborhoods, through workshops, talks and artist initiatives. In 2023, the gallery also co-founded Minor Attractions, an inclusive micro-fair that gives access to both London and international galleries during Frieze week. ...
