Cici Wu is a Beijing-born and New York-based multi-medium artist who is known for her diverse and unconventional approach to art. She explores the relationship between the tools and machines we use, such as lanterns, stepper motor, belt, pulley, light sensor, and the ways in which our experiences are influenced by subtle interactions between language, memory, rituals, societal structures and emotions. Being influenced by the supernatural, she often combines different mediums such as drawing, film projection and sculpture to create surreal, dream-like installations that blend the human and the non-human. In her drawings, Wu incorporates traditional techniques and imagery that draw inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints.
