Exploring the nature of the human condition, Etinosa Yvonne works in photography, documentary, video and sound. Her works are inspired by her environment and operate as visual storytellers of societal injustice in Nigeria that are often not publicly spoken about. In her project entitled It’s All In My Head (2018), Yvonne follows the survivors of terrorism and extreme violence, exploring one’s means of coping, as well as the underlying causes of political conflict. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the artist documented Nigerian women and their stories amidst a growing amount of gender-based violence. Yvonne’s work is a powerful documentation of unspoken, ignored horror, presented with tender, comforting empathy. ...
