Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This artwork depicts a natural scene, with lush green leaves and curving vines contrasting against the weathered, textured concrete surface. The composition is organic and asymmetrical, with the various elements - leaves, stems, and white fungal growths - scattered across the frame in a visually striking arrangement. The monochromatic color palette, dominated by shades of green and gray, creates a serene and meditative atmosphere. The artist's intention seems to be to highlight the resilience and adaptive nature of plant life, capable of thriving even in harsh, urban environments. This piece invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the beauty found in the small, overlooked details of the natural world. ...

Federico Pérez Villoro And Ana Rivera
Mexican (Pérez Villoro & Rivera)

Federico Pérez Villoro and Ana Rivera’s collaborative practice critically examines the intersection of technology, ecology, and governance. Their recent project, Aguas Verdaderas, delves into the environmental and social implications of the industrialization of water, focusing on the Tieté River in São Paulo, Brazil. Through installations, videos, and performances, they explore how state, corporate, and institutional powers materialize through the strategic use of information technologies. In the project, technical drawings, satellite images, and video installations reveal the manipulation of the river under anthropocentric principles. Rivera contributed to the creation of small shells made with soil and water from Lake Texcoco, connecting the Tieté River basin to the lakes of the Valley of Mexico. These elements guide viewers through the exhibition, emphasizing the global scale of hydrosocial systems and the interconnectedness of water bodies. Their collaborative work challenges dominant narratives, prompting reflection on the environmental and social impacts of water management and fostering awareness of the relationships between natural systems, technology, and human intervention. ...

PEANA
Mexico City

Since its opening in 2017, PEANA has served as a platform for multidisciplinary production and research of emerging Mexican contemporary art, with a strong emphasis on experimental practices. A recurring characteristic of the artists they support is the continuous evolution of the artistic lineage of conceptual rigorously expressions that are grounded in the plasticity of the artwork’s materiality. Through its off-site and group exhibitions PEANA is interested in the curatorial practice as cultural synthesis that bridges historicized art practices to emerging ones from Mexico and abroad. ...
