Javier Barrios

Barrios' work addresses relationships between the minuscule and the monumental, he understands the connectedness between both worlds as a form of politic act. In recent work, fantastic, historical and scientific narratives can be observed –as well as formal and technical experiments– which together speak of the way in which human beings relate to nature, trying to decipher, contain and control it, constantly endangering sanity and life.

The gallery was founded in October 2023 with a space on the first floor of 1A Old Nichol Street, a former industrial building around the corner from Arnold Circus, East London. The gallery's focus is to present ambitious exhibitions of emerging and mid-career artists, many of whom have not yet been exhibited in the UK, alongside a program of live events related to the exhibitions, and artists' publications.
