Artist
Korakrit Arunanondchai
B.1986, Thai

Korakrit Arunanondchai’s versatile and explosive practice spans accross film-making, painting, installation and performance. Bangkok-raised, US-based artist treats art-making as a way of storytelling: his works are perpetuated by the memory of strange historical events, personal experiences, ritualistic performances, the process of data collection, the study of the Anthropocene, news broadcasts, and so on. The multitude of themes Arunanondchai accommodates in his practice is reflected in the visual, rich storm of his works which feature lasers, body paints, fire, challenging and alluring spectacles. The artist’s practice creates spiritual ecosystems that commemorate memory's fragility, the concerns of political upheavals, and cosmology. His paintings are never isolated from his installations, video works or performances. Just like particles of the universe exist in relation with each other, Arunanondchai’s works physically and spiritually belong to each other and everything else. ...
