Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a sculptural piece made of metallic, reflective material that takes on a fluid, organic form. The predominant shapes are curved and undulating, evoking the graceful movement of a bird in flight. The overall composition is minimalist and visually striking, with the reflective surface creating a sense of lightness and elegance. The artist's use of industrial materials and abstract, non-representational style suggest an exploration of the relationship between nature and modern technology. This contemporary sculpture invites the viewer to contemplate the intersection of the natural and the artificial. ...

Artist
Marie Lund
1976 , Danish

When choosing a material with which to sculpt, Marie Lund carefully considers its reaction under pressure, heat and light, whether it is heavy or seemingly weightless. Often working in copper, the artist twists, reshapes and contorts the metal with the help of a metalwork tool called an English Wheel, commonly used for making curved panels for car parts. She is intrigued by creating forms detached from their original function, the purpose of their conception. Lund’s arrangement of the sculptures within her installations is distinctly curatorial. In The Apartment (2020), canoe-like structures made from aluminium and nylon straps clung to the walls high above the visitor or were suspended just above the ground, their polished surfaces reflecting the ornate parquet flooring and activating the space, or visa versa. ...
