Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This contemporary artwork features a minimalist, geometric armchair with a striking blue hue. The overall composition showcases a clean and angular design, utilizing simple shapes and lines to create a bold, structural form. The subtly textured upholstery adds visual interest, while the monochromatic color palette lends a serene and calming atmosphere. The artist's distinctive approach to furniture design challenges traditional notions of comfort and function, inviting the viewer to reconsider the boundaries between art and everyday objects. This piece reflects the designer's commitment to exploring the intersection of modern aesthetics and practical utility. ...

Philippe Malouin
Artist
Philippe Malouin
Canadian/British

Philippe Malouin’s practice is located at the junction point between craftsmanship, sculpture and industrial design. In his new body of work, he explores the relationship of lighting, furniture and sculpture, threading the historical and the cultural through a modern lens. The works in the exhibition were produced in two parts in Brighton, UK and Athens, Greece and both their colors and construction are inspired by each city and its waste material that the artist discovered in scrap yards. Malouin creates here an interesting dialogue between materials, form and functionality and assembles these elements in a way that is both innovative and compelling, ensuring he captures all the possibilities the material has to offer. This exhibition borrows its inspiration from the Dadaist tradition of découpé or cut out technique, the mechanical method of juxtaposition in which a written text is cut up and rearranged in order to create new meaning. Sourcing steel objects instinctively and rearranging them ad hoc, Malouin’s intention is to create here new meaning and value. These hybrid objects challenge our perception of what a three-dimensional object can be and appear both of this world and utterly futuristic. They are ultimately artistic manifestations where their functionality is not always delineated. By probing its boundaries to and beyond the limits, Malouin creates here a rather surprising language of form. ...

The Breeder
Athens

The Breeder gallery was formed organically from The Breeder magazine due to the need of Athenian artists to promote international dialogue. Over the last 20 years The Breeder has been a pioneer in the development of the contemporary art scene in Athens. They show art that is relevant to our times and promote a select group of Greek artists on the global arena while also showing cutting edge international artists. The Breeder serves as a link that connects cultures and supports a deeper exchange. They support their community by providing an active platform for the exchange of ideas and ideals. In 2019 they introduced The Breeder Open Studio initiative, where the gallery is available to invited artists prior to their show. Working onsite the artists have the opportunity to engage with the audience in more substantial ways. Invited artists of the Breeder Open studio, include Ariana Papademetropoulos, Chioma Ebinama, Joy Labinjo, Ekene Stanley Emecheta, Victor Ubah, Barry Yusufu and Adegboyega Adesina. ...
