Brieuc Schieb
B.1995, French

Brieuc Schieb engages with the porous frontier between documentary reality and fictional worlds, creating cinematic and installation-based narratives that examine human margins, rituals, and inner landscapes. His work takes real-life situations, gestures, and settings as starting points, transforming them into speculative fictions that probe liminal identities and communal dynamics. Often blending found footage, staged imagery, and performative elements, his works evoke nostalgia, collective memory, and the instability of belonging. By introducing humor, ritualized gestures, and dissonant storytelling, he reveals the fragility of utopian ideals and the subtle tensions present within communities. Schieb’s research frequently expands into installation formats, where sound and image combine to create immersive spaces that dislocate familiar realities. His practice is equally rooted in poetry and speculation, reconstructing the everyday as a space for mythmaking and reimagining. Through this interplay of fact and fiction, he continuously challenges conventional representations of reality, exposing its constructed nature while opening new ways of perceiving the ordinary. ...
