Brooklin A. Soumahoro brings a refined sensitivity to color, rhythm, and structure to his artistic approach. Influenced by a multicultural upbringing and a wide array of visual traditions, he merges precise geometric patterning with vibrant, expansive color fields to create paintings that serve as contemplative visual thresholds. Sound, music, and ideas of sonic frequency play a vital role in shaping his visual language, resonating alongside global art histories, traditions of pattern, and cultural symbolism. Soumahoro’s deep engagement with color theory is evident in his ability to create surfaces that feel at once grounded and transportive. His compositions unfold slowly, inviting viewers into states of reflection, where movement and stillness coexist across vibrant planes. At once intuitive and methodical, his paintings hold a portal-like quality—expanses of form and hue that suggest both physical presence and metaphysical space. Through this fusion of structure and emotion, Soumahoro creates work that speaks to perception, cultural memory, and the boundless potential of abstraction. ...
