First, as an exploration of fetishising and later as a tool to experiment with texture and pattern, her acrylic on Masonite and later quilt works depict the female body through the studious lens of space and form. Ramberg is commonly known for being part of the Chicago Imagists, the cohort of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the late 1960s. The Imagists’ work is characterised by their fragmented perspective and vibrant colours, channelling inspirations from folk art history and the urban environment of Chicago.
