Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This striking sculptural installation features a minimalist, predominantly white palette with a sense of movement and fluidity. The composition centers on a crouching, distorted dog figure, its form blending into the abstract, draped fabric elements that cascade across the floor. The overall effect conveys a sense of ethereal, ghostly presence, evoking themes of fragility, metamorphosis, and the relationship between the natural and artificial. The artist's experimental approach to materials and form suggests a conceptual exploration of the boundaries between the animate and inanimate, inviting the viewer to contemplate the nature of existence and the human condition. ...

Lauren Gault
B.1986, Irish

Lauren Gault’s work is an interrogation of matter, living environments, and the ethical and socio-political connotations and implications of our interaction with them. To conduct her fieldwork, Gault employs archaeological processes, examinations of contemporary agricultural practices and rewilding policies, and most recently – in C I T H R A (2020) – research into an enigmatic science-fiction text written by Gault’s distant relative and Irish-born explorer, scientist and inventor Martha Craig. Gault’s work on this project, intrinsically shaped by her upbringing in rural Northern Ireland, investigates the complex tensions and interconnections that separate and bind together wildness and domestication. In imagining and sculpting the outcomes of her research, Gault experiments with a multitude of materials, including Lycra fabric, fossils, stained glass, stitched suede and agricultural milk powder, manipulating their formal qualities using tension and pressure. ...
