Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This abstract artwork employs a distinctive technique that creates a mesmerizing visual effect. The composition is dominated by a swirling, textured pattern of densely packed, shimmering graphite marks that give the piece a sense of movement and energy. The overall monochromatic palette of grays and blacks, punctuated by subtle hints of lighter tones, lends the work a moody, atmospheric quality. The artist's intent appears to be exploring the expressive potential of mark-making and the interplay of light and shadow within an abstract visual language, inviting the viewer to engage with the work's tactile and contemplative qualities. ...

Artist
Tamuna Chabashvili
B.1978, Georgian

Tamuna Chabashvili engages with archives, memory, and traces left by personal and collective histories. Through visual and tactile narratives, she maps stories, memories, and questions emerging from the inheritance of the past. Her work seeks to uncover and give voice to ‘counter-memories’ or ‘counter-stories’—silenced or marginalized histories that dwell in spaces of absence and silence. Textile plays a vital role, often serving as a grid or framework that structures her works and holds layered narratives together. Each project becomes an opportunity for Chabashvili to engage directly with vulnerable and underrepresented groups, allowing her to broaden the scope of how embodied memories are retraced and interpreted in today’s world. These collaborations enrich her work by adding depth and new perspectives on identity, displacement, and resilience. By intertwining personal narratives with collective histories, her art challenges dominant narratives and invites reflection on the complexities of memory, loss, and healing in contemporary society. ...

Tbilisi

Gallery Artbeat is a pioneering contemporary art gallery based in Tbilisi, Georgia representing mid-career and emerging Georgian artists. Between 2014-2017 the gallery started its journey as a project space, a moving gallery using a shipping container for site-specific exhibitions to introduce contemporary art in peripheral locations where museums and galleries don't function. In October 2017 the gallery found it's permanent home in the heart of Tbilisi. The gallery has a significant presence on the international art scene, collaborating with major institutions and museums and taking part in art fairs such as NADA Miami, Untitled Miami, Art Dubai, Artissima, Art Cologne. Our aim is to support artists throughout their artistic journeys, foster cultural activities both locally and abroad, collaborate with international galleries and organisations and mark Georgia on an international art map. ...
