Rather than simply dividing or reorganising existing gallery spaces, Tolia Astakhishvili's installations spill across newly defined thresholds of space. The artist's installations combine decay and destruction with a sense of inexorable replication and endless reconfiguration of space. Building elements in her work become signifiers of both what they are and what they undo, of their assembly and disassembly. In this way, Astakhishvili's work appropriates, extends and incorporates given spaces.
