Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This abstract canvas painting features a vibrant, tropical landscape with a striking combination of colors and organic shapes. The composition is dominated by lush, flowing leaves and vegetation in various shades of green, complemented by pops of purple, yellow, and pink. The use of curvilinear forms and overlapping elements creates a sense of depth and movement, evoking the dynamic energy of a dense forest. The artist's bold, expressive brushwork and stylized approach to the natural world suggest a playful, imaginative interpretation of the subject matter. This piece likely aims to capture the enchanting, whimsical essence of a tropical paradise. ...

Artist
Aristeidis Lappas
B.1993, Greek

The characters that populate the canvases of Aristeidis Lappas are based on mythological references to Ancient Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia. Figures like Athena, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom, as well as Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess of love, fertility and war, are the main protagonists, whilst Angra Mainyu, the evil, destructive spirit in Zoroastrianism and the legend of St. George also contribute to the formation of the characters. Patterns inspired by traditional embroidery and textiles add to the melody of form and colour while engaging in a cross-cultural dialogue. Mythological and historical references create a narration that bestows a spiritual dimension to Aristeidis Lappas ' work. Binary definitions break down uniting into a primal understanding of existence where meagre segregations give way to the totality of the human experience. Form is a vehicle for meaning. It is treated as a narration tool or a representational element that creates a character. At the same time, it's used as a building block where information can be inserted as colour, texture or pattern. Thus, a painting can be both a figurative and abstract composition. Having established an aesthetic language following his previous work with urbanity, as well as symbols of the Greek identity, Lappas now aims to construct a poetic narrative focusing on more esoteric subjects. Rather than following a linear avenue of thought, the work presents a space where different interpretations reconstruct new meanings and draw new connections. Through the use of form, multi-layered compositions as well as colour pallets, the artist continues his exploration of the language of painting. ...

The Breeder
Athens

The Breeder gallery was formed organically from The Breeder magazine due to the need of Athenian artists to promote international dialogue. Over the last 20 years The Breeder has been a pioneer in the development of the contemporary art scene in Athens. They show art that is relevant to our times and promote a select group of Greek artists on the global arena while also showing cutting edge international artists. The Breeder serves as a link that connects cultures and supports a deeper exchange. They support their community by providing an active platform for the exchange of ideas and ideals. In 2019 they introduced The Breeder Open Studio initiative, where the gallery is available to invited artists prior to their show. Working onsite the artists have the opportunity to engage with the audience in more substantial ways. Invited artists of the Breeder Open studio, include Ariana Papademetropoulos, Chioma Ebinama, Joy Labinjo, Ekene Stanley Emecheta, Victor Ubah, Barry Yusufu and Adegboyega Adesina. ...
